Garr Reynolds, who was on the Fort Myers Beach Civic Association that worked to incorporate the town and subsequently served on the first town councils, died Sunday in Fort Myers Beach at the age of 88.

A Kentucky native, Garr served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was retired from the Cincinnati Public School System where he served as a teacher and administrator.

His wife, Regina, said Garr had a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

"He was a good, good person," she said.

"I'm sorry to hear of his passing," said Town of Fort Myers Beach Vice Mayor Ray Murphy. Murphy served with Reynolds on the first two councils for six years.

Garr belonged to the Masonic and Scottish Rite, the VFW Post #10097, National Educational Association, and was a leader for the Boy Scouts of America. Garr was also a bowler, tutor and a deacon at his church in Cincinnati.

Reynolds will be flown to Kentucky, where he will be buried.
