Friends of Matanzas Pass Preserve host moon walk

October 5, 2016
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

Do you want to hear what goes bump in the night amongst the tangle of mangrove roots?

The Friends of the Matanzas Pass Preserve are starting up the once-monthly Moon Walk in the Preserve. Two volunteers will help lead up to 12 attendees through the preserve in the dark.

The only light source - besides the full moon - will be candle-lit lanterns. The experience shows a whole new side of the preserve, when visitors will use their other senses besides sight to explore.

The first Moon Walk will be held at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 16. Visitors can meet the volunteers at the historical society cottage on Bay Street.

To keep the setting intimate and quiet, only 12 people can attend each moon walk. There are only a few spots left, so to reserve a spot, call Jim Rodwell at 565-7437.
