Fort Myers Beach Art Association, Greater Fort Myers Beach Area Friends of the Arts, The Town of Fort Myers Beach, Santini Marina Plaza and Fish Tale Marina are pleased to invite interested artists to apply to Paint the Beach A Plein Air Festival in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, a non-juried painting competition and show. This festival is intended to bring the excitement and beauty of the plein air painting tradition to Fort Myers Beach.
This non-juried event will run from Nov. 3 to Nov. 9. Artists may paint within specified areas from Nov. 4-6. Possible scenes include beach views, historic buildings, beach businesses and marine subjects.
The Quick Draw Competition will take place on Saturday, Nov 8, from 8 to 11 a.m. Everyone is invited to enter this exciting art competition competitive painters and amateurs. All contestants will set up their supplies and paint or draw "en plein air" at Times Square.
Paint the Beach will present over $2,500 in cash awards to the Plein Air painters with a Best in Show prize of $1,000 Second Place $750 and Third Place $500, Awards of Merit and various named Awards. Award amounts may be changed at the discretion of FMBAA. The Awards judge for the plein air competition is Phil Fisher. See www.fortmyersbeachart.com for registration.
Many businesses of the Town of Fort Myers Beach and especially those in the Santini Marina Plaza are pleased to welcome participating artists to this new festival! As a gesture of hospitality, many businesses will host various gatherings and offer gifts and discounts to the artists. Paintings created during the week of the Paint the Beach plein air festival will be displayed on the grounds of Santini Marina Plaza on Estero Boulevard. The paintings will be on display, and for sale in the Propeller Lounge on Friday, Nov. 7, and in the Festival Tent on Saturday Nov. 8 through Sunday Nov. 9. The Awards Ceremony and Collectors Preview Gala will be in the Propeller Lounge on Friday, Nov. 7, from 6 to 9 p.m.. There will be musicians performing for the evening event. Refreshments and delectable hors d'oeurves will be served. Paint the Beach artists will receive one complimentary ticket to the party. Additional tickets may be purchased in advance for $30 at Fish Tale Marina, Fort Myers Beach Art Association or at the door for $35 or online at www.fortmyersbeachart.com .
