To the editor:
I confess that "Titanic: In Memory & Style" stretched my event planning skills to the max.
Fundamentally, this is a vintage fashion show and I knew it'd fly as an afternoon affair. But in the evening? With quite a few men in attendance? I don't mind telling you...I was the teeniest bit nervous about it - especially as it was a sold out house with over 100 people in attendance. It inherently possessed more elements than any other event I've planned! I also keenly felt the importance of striking the right note. It couldn't be a sad event, yet it couldn't approach flip either.
But it was an amazing night and we did manage to strike the right note between poignant and fun. It, of course, helps that dressing women in clothing from another era always changes the game.
Our Molly Brown character, the music, Titanic era food and drink, the clothes, our amazing models -and the fact we held the event in a boat barn strewn with twinkling lights- all made for a night that was...well, I'd go so far as to say it was an evening folks will remember.
