Over the past five years, Marisol Trujillo has become an invaluable employee in the McDonald's Restaurant franchises in the Southwest Florida Coop.
Her value was rewarded recently when Trujillo was selected as the McDonald's Crew Person of the Year (2013). While she has become a valued member of the store on Pine Island Road near Santa Barbara Boulevard, McDonald's likewise has become a valuable resource for Trujillo, who likes the flexibility of her work schedule.
"It's a lot of responsibility and it's nice to be recognized for my work," said Trujillo, 29. "I want to go back to school and study business management and use it at McDonald's."

Hired in 2009, Trujillo has learned to speak English as her second language because of her employment. The mother of two children and Cape Coral resident says she no longer is afraid to converse in English.
"I'm very proud to have her work for us," said her shift manager Terri Wilson. "She is what being a crew member means to us and our store. She is a good role model and an excellent teacher as she trains our new crew members."
McDonald's in Southwest Florida, comprised of 58 stores stretching from Port Charlotte to Immokalee and Marco Island, has been awarding crew member and manager awards annually since 2005. Each store nominates one crew and one manager candidate at the end of the year. The awards are presented to the winners at an awards banquet in January.
"We are all about customer satisfaction here," said Wilson, who was named the Shift Manager of the Year in 2012. "It's a real honor to receive these awards. The good thing about it is award winners tend to receive promotions."
Sometimes even nominees earn promotions like Wilson's nominee for manager of the year 2013, who came in second place for 2013. He was promoted to a general manager's position.
The Shift Manager of the Year award went to Britany Cox of Lehigh Acres.
