Fort Myers- The Goodwill L.I.F.E. Academy will be hosting its first Treasure Sale in its new location at the Goodwill Opportunity Center (5100 Tice Street) Monday, February 10 - February 14. The L.I.F.E. Academy is a tuition-free charter school for students with developmental disabilities ages 11-22.
"The sale is a fun and educational fundraiser for the school," says Goodwill spokesperson Madison Mitchell. "The students are involved in every aspect of it and you can find some great things! Last year, I bought a brand new Lennox Christmas bowl."
The fundraiser will feature everything from clothing to electronics, household to recreation items. The public is welcome to attend between 8:30 a.m. to 3:00p.m. Cash and checks are accepted.
"The school focuses not only on academic skills but, also on life skills," says Mitchell. "The sale teaches valuable lessons like event planning, customer service and money management."
The Goodwill L.I.F.E. Academy is a tuition-free, open-enrollment school for students with developmental disabilities. The school's curriculum is designed to promote self-advocacy, and develop life skills for independent living, by focusing on academic skills, daily life skills and vocational/workforce skills.
