The signs have all been placed, the tags have been priced, and the pancakes are ready for the griddle. That can only mean one thing:?The fifth annual Main Street Bazaar and Yard Sale is ready to hit the streets taking place Saturday, Jan. 18, beginning at 7 a.m. What used to be a half-mile stretch of bargains has now expanded down through Buttonwood, including a storage company and another residential community.
"It looks like this is going to be the biggest sale yet," said Bill Arendt, lead coordinator of the event. "We have new participants this year, and everyone is very excited. Plus, the weather is going to be wonderful."
Before hitting the yard-sale circuit, swing by the Oyster Bay park, where you can enjoy all-you-can-eat pancakes, along with sausage, coffee, juice and perhaps some other tasty treats for just $3. That should get you enough energy to hit the sales.
The bazaar officially kicks off at 8 a.m., stretching down Main Street, San Carlos Island, from the corner of Main Street and San Carlos Boulevard down to the clubhouse of the Port Carlos Cove community. Businesses, residential parks and individual homes will be offering an array of items for bargain-shoppers to dig through.
Throughout the sale, enjoy lunch, live music and a bake sale within the perimeters of the bazaar.
Parking will be available up and down Main Street, but as those spots tend to fill up quick, parking will also be available in the old Beach Seafood lot, across from Salty Sam's, as well as behind the Port Carlos Cove clubhouse.
Bill said the items left over after the sale at Oyster Bay, Gulf Cove and Port Carlos Cove are all donated to a local charity, to help raise funds for their endeavors.
"Plans have really come along very well for our annual sale. We've had so many people contact us about returning and shopping that day," Bill said. "Don't forget your bike and your cooler, and don't forget to go down Buttonwood, too. There will be lots of great places to stop. We'll see you down there."
