Name that vehicle. No, it is not a game show, but rather an interactive way to get public input on a transportation means from Beach Baptist Church to Mound House on Connecticut Street.
An agreement between Beach Baptist Church at the corner of Estero Boulevard and Connecticut Street is in place to use a portion of the church parking lot for Mound House over-flow parking. The Town of Fort Myers Beach recently acquired a GEM E6 six-passenger electric vehicle for visitation transport from the church to Mound House.
"As tours have become more popular at Mound House, our little parking lot has become less adequate," said Brent Newman, education coordinator at Mound House. "In order to accommodate all of our visitors, our new vehicle will soon be available to whisk people from their cars down to Mound House on tour days: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. What we don't have is a name for our new electric vehicle."
This is a photo of a GEM E6 six-passenger electric vehicle soon to be used to transport Mound House visitors from Beach Baptist Church to the historic 451 Connecticut Street property.
Newman said name suggestions should be dropped off at the office at Mound House, located at 451 Connecticut St. or emailed to his attention at firstname.lastname@example.org before March 7, 2013. To do so, include your name for the electric vehicle and your contact information.
Current Mound House volunteers will select the winning name during their monthly volunteer-seeking meeting at Newton Park on March 11, at 10 a.m. The public is invited. The person who provided the winning name will receive a Mound House t-shirt and a Mound House coffee mug.
So put on those thinking caps! Send in some suggestions!
