An official for the third annual Putt & Pub Crawl has announced details for the fund-raising event.
Vice Mayor Alan Mandel, the media relations specialist and committee board member for the Putt & Pub Crawl, stated the 2013 event that will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, will benefit the Fort Myers Beach Friends of the Arts, a 501(3)C nonprofit organization.
"The money will be dedicated towards the funds for the establishment for an amphitheater on the Beach," he said.
The Putt & Pub Crawl's nine-hole course opens at 10 a.m. The objective is to assemble a four-person team and complete the nine holes before 4:30 p.m. The cost to play is $140 per four-person team. Checks can be made payable to FMBFOA and mailed or dropped off at Lahaina Realty (Attn: Paula Kiker), 6035 Estero Blvd. Fort Myers Beach 33931.
Those interested in participating for the community cause can pick up a registration form from any of the nine sponsored holes. They are Pete's Time Out, The Beach Pierside Grill, Smokin' Oyster Brewery, Matanzas Inn Resort, Surf Club, Gulfshore Grill & The Cottage, Mermaid Lounge & Liquor, Nervous Nellies Crazy Waterfront Eatery and Nemo's on the Beach.
Registration will be held at a table outside Nervous Nellies from 9 to 11 a.m. on the day of the event. If interested, Yucatan Beach Stand will serve breakfast from 9 to 10 a.m. and donate proceeds to the cause.
The Lani Kai Beach Resort will act as the "10th hole" and will provide dinner and entertainment from 4 to 7 p.m. at its rooftop Island View Restaurant. From 5:30 to 6 p.m., prizes will be awarded to the first- and second-place teams, the duffer's award for the worst score and to the best-dressed team. A judge's award and people's choice award will be awarded to winning hole sponsors.
FMB Friends of the Arts will provide volunteers to aid in the event. Scorecards should be turned in at the Lani Kai no later than 5 p.m.
"Just like last year, there will be raffles, drink specials and 50/50 chances at each of the hole sponsors," said Mandel. "Habitat for Humanity will be the entertainment at Lani Kai."

The 2013 event will continue its positive tradition of helping out community charitable organizations. The first annual Putt & Pub Crawl benefitted Bay Oaks Recreational Campus, while the second event's proceeds went to the VIP After-School Program at Beach Elementary.
"With the number of teams that participate, there are a lot of people who are having a good time, supporting our businesses in the area and helping organizations raise funds for worthwhile charities on the Beach," said Mandel.
Last year, 40 teams competed in the benefit. There will be a 50-team limit to this year's event, so sign up early.
"Come out and enjoy the island," said Mandel.
