Within the last couple of years, the hard-rockin’ cover group Underground has really established a name for themselves. They’ve regularly been seen along the island, playing constant gigs at The Cottage, as well as several other venues throughout Southwest Florida, and managed to keep a pretty busy schedule – even through the lull of the summertime months.
However, with frontman and new daddy, Brian Richardson, heading back to New York in just a few days, a gaping hole has been left in the band, and members are doing what they can to fill that great gap Brian is leaving behind.
“He’s a new father, and we understand his moving back to New York. It’ll be sad to see him go, but we are wishing him the best up there,”?said Frank Orlando, bassist of the group. “With that, we’re trying to find a very reliable and talented musician to take over Brain’s frontman position, and welcome applications anytime.”
Attention, all musicians. If interested in this new gig, read on and call Frank with further questions!
Frank said band experience is not necessary, but they’d love to hear of your experience, if any, with other groups. Although they rarely rehearse, the band gets together away from the limelight every once in a while in Fort Myers.
Guys and lady musicians are welcome to try out for the gig, age is not important, and experience with other instruments isn’t necessary, but if you can play the guitar, keyboard, harmonica or any other instrument, that’s great.
Transportation is necessary, as the group gigs throughout Fort Myers, Fort Myers Beach, Cape Coral and Naples throughout the week.
Expect to immediately take on this position, and expect to perform regularly – this is not a part-time, garage-band type scenario. This is a professional, regularly-performing group, gigging almost every weekend, with about six to 10 shows a month.
As for set lists, some of the modern and alternative music and band types the group performs includes 311, Sublime, Candlebox, Godsmack, Rage Against the Machine, Three Doors Down, STP, Papa Roach, Lit, Lenny Kravitz and others.
If you have what it takes to be the leader of Underground, visit UndergroundLive.net to see videos of the group, or call Frank at 989-1608. Photo by MELISSA SCHNEIDER.
