Lee County Utilities has begun construction to replace an existing sewer force main along Main Street and San Carlos Boulevard between Main Street and Prescott Street.
The new sewer force main is being installed along South Street, San Carlos Court and the intersection of Prescott Street and San Carlos Boulevard. The existing line was installed in 1984 and had deteriorated to the end of its useful life. Replacement is necessary to lessen the risk of the line breaks and sewer spills, such as the event on Oct. 5, 2012.
The majority of the work is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
Installation of the lines are taking place within the Lee County right-of-ways along the east side of South Street and the south side of San Carlos Court. Residents located in the vicinity of this corridor will be impacted by construction-related activities such as lane closures and construction-related noise. Driveways will be impacted, but access will be maintained at all times and then restored to their original condition.
