An annual Keep Lee County Beautiful event has been moved from last Saturday (Oct. 27) to this Saturday (Nov. 3) due to threatening weather from Tropical Storm Sandy.
Monofilament Madness, based at Fish Tale Marina at 7225 Estero Blvd., will run as a full-day environmental awareness event from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and feature volunteers cleaning up Estero Bay from 8 to 11:30 a.m.
Officials are seeking volunteers to bring their kayaks, canoes or boats to help in the Back Bay cleanup. There will be a free lunch provided for all volunteers.
After the cleanup segment, a free environmental expo will take place from 11:30 to 4 p.m. Guest speakers include Terry Cain from KLCB, Environmental Sciences Coordinator Keith Laakkonen from the Town of Fort Myers Beach, Eve Haverfield from Turtle Time, Bob Wasno from Florida Gulf Coast University and Joanne Semmer from Ostego Bay Foundation.
Space will be available for exhibitors. Learn how to protect Estero Bay!
