To the editor:
I am announcing my candidacy for Fort Myers Beach Library Board of Directors.
Here are my responses to Jay Light's letter and questions in the Sept.19 issue of the Beach Observer.
- 1. I have had a local library card for many years. I can't remember when I got my first one, but I remember I had to take my "proof of ownership" to show the library since at that time I owned a condo here but wasn't living here permanently. It would most likely have been the early '90's, since I purchased my unit in 1991.
- 2. I have been a volunteer at the library since moving here permanently three years ago. Prior to that time, I was here for at least a month each summer. I would guess that I have used the library weekly for one reason or another. I have also presented several programs for the library.
- 3. My motivation for running for the Library Board is as follows: I am very eager to participate in the growth of the library program. I would like to see our library become an "education center" for all ages and interests. We have a magnificent structure, an outstanding library staff and a very supportive and active Library Board. I would like to use my skills, education background, and business experience to aid in the expansion of the library offerings. As a member of the Board, which guides the policies of the library, I believe I can help our Fort Myers Beach residents and visitors take even more advantage of the library than they do at present.
