To the editor:
Making no apologies to Ms. Katherine Brunson (Aug. 15 letter to the editor), my wife and I do own homes (and pay taxes) in Ohio and Florida. Both of us have put in decades of hard work and "countless nights away from family" to make that possible. We've never joined a country club. I drive a 10-year-old truck. We carefully plan and save for lean times. Over a 40-year career mostly dependent on sales commissions, I've had many a month with no income whatsoever.
In her July 11th letter to the editor, Ms. Brunson complained to the Beach Fire Board about one month with no income. While a difficult spot to be in, she remains unwilling to recognize this resulted from decisions of her own family's making.
As Ms. Brunson baselessly blasts the ethics, morals, arrogance and ignorance of others with whom she disagrees, might we again compare her situation to today's tens of millions of Americans without any job at all for month after month after month?
