After almost a year of work Zoomers is finally ready to open.
According to Alan Fluke, project manager of the park, all of the midway rides have new light bulbs, the go-karts have been fine-tuned, the bumper boats are floating in a crystal-clear lagoon, the hole numbers (1 through 18) are on each golf hole, all the plants are in the ground and the arcade games are ready to be played.
Wednesday evening, from 5 to 8 p.m., the park is hosting a VIP event and ribbon-cutting ceremony for registered media staff. "Without name dropping, all the who's who in Fort Myers and the surrounding areas are invited for a fun evening, as we showcase the hard work all the local contractors have done to bring this park to life," Alan said.

Thursday will be a sneak preview for area residents who first signed up on the park's website and Facebook pages in the fall and early winter of 2011. "We're expecting almost 2,000 people for a dress rehearsal for our staff," Alan said. "During the last week, more than 95 employees have been going through rigorous and detailed training on rides, go-karts and bumper boat operations and safety, and the value of great guest services."
Friday at 4 p.m., after almost 10 years waiting, Zoomers opens to the general public. "Personally, I'm expecting well more than 10,000 patrons to visit Zoomers this weekend with a look of WOW on their faces as they enter the building and feast their eyes on items on display in our 'Winners Circle' Prize Center and all the flashing lights on the many games in the Family Fun Arcade. Regardless of whether you are young or old, you are always young at heart at Zoomers."
