The deadline for nominations for elementary, middle, and high school teachers for the annual Character Education Champion Teacher Award, presented by the Uncommon Friends Foundation, has been extended to May 1.
Teachers in public, private, and charter schools in Lee, Charlotte, and Collier counties are eligible to be nominated-either by themselves or co-workers.
Awards will be presented to the 2012 Champion Teachers during the Uncommon Evening dinner at Harborside Event Center, Fort Myers on Thursday, June 7. The award recognizes outstanding educators who incorporate Lessons Learned from the Uncommon Friends to teach character education.
These educators inspire their students to adopt the characteristics of the five Uncommon Friends, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, Dr. Alexis Carrel, and Charles Lindbergh-intellectual giants who helped shape the 20th Century, and incorporate them into their lives.
Criteria and the nomination form are available on the foundation's web site, www.uncommonfriends.org. The nomination form and a letter of support from the nominee's supervising administrator are to be sent to Dr. Vivian Posey, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org by the May 1 deadline. Additional information about the nomination process and the award are available by contacting the Uncommon Friends Foundation at 337-9505.
The Uncommon Friends Foundation, established in 1993, is a character education foundation whose mission is to preserve the legacy of the five Uncommon Friends whose lives significantly impacted the local and world community, and to promote character education and business ethics in the leaders of tomorrow.
