The Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau welcomes a new member to its staff: Amanda Auer, administrative assistant.
Auer will assist with visitor inquiries and research projects, working closely with the public, as well as various government agencies.
In her previous position as a baccalaureate specialist at Edison State College, Auer developed relationships with the community, through processing Edison State College admission applications, responding to student inquiries and communicating with faculty and staff. Prior to her work at Edison State College, Auer worked as a staff assistant with the City of Fort Myers' Central Wastewater Treatment Division. There, Auer headed up payroll, reception duties and acted as a first point of contact person.
Auer also serves as secretary on the director's board for the Gulf Coast Charter Academy South, a newly approved STEM charter school in the School District of Collier County. She also participates in the mentoring program at Edison State College for first time college students, and has worked as an academic tutor in mathematics, science, English and French for high school students.
Auer comes to the VCB with a background in tourism. She grew up in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, and worked for six years as the assistant manager at a retail fish market and restaurant.
Auer holds a real estate sales associate's license, and is fluent in French.?She also holds a bachelor of science degree, with emphasis in biological sciences, from Brock University in Saint Catharines, Ontario, Canada.
