Taking over the stage of Bonita Bill's every Monday night from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Spaceghost, a 14-year Beach resident, and a couple of his musical comrades (the Boat Lizards' Pete, and Danny North) host a true jam session every week, welcoming all who'd like to join in to come on down.
Spaceghost, who's performed with Chubby Checker and the Del-Vikings, as well as Picasso Moon (local jam band from many moons ago), said this gig is all about straight-up jammin' no rehearsals and no strings attached (no pun intended, either).
"There're lots of blues, lots of jazz and rock," he said. "We're just having fun and jammin' and welcome all who'd like to watch or join in to come by."
Stop by Bonita Bill's every Monday evening for a fresh jam session, hosted by the Three Old Hippies, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
These guys have certainly been around the musical block in their day. Along with Spaceghost playing with the big guys, Pete, the guy who started the Bonita Bill's jam session in the first place, has performed with Fats Domino and Pete Fountain (from New Orleans).
Danny North has played with ZZ Top and Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs (well-known for "Wooley Bully").
"We're just three old hippies wanting to jam. We like to see other people come in, jam and have a good time," Spaceghost laughed. "We're looking for anybody and everybody to just come, sit in and have a good time."
So, pick up your bongos, guitar, clarinet, sax, triangle, spoons, kazoo, horns or just you and your voice, and have some fun jammin' at Bonita Bill's Monday nights, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
"There're lots of fellas that don't play often or aren't musical professionals. This is the place for them to come out and just jam along," he concluded.
