Beach Theater marquee is an asset, not a hazard

February 1, 2012
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

To the editor:

I gave up a lot when I moved here two years ago to pursue my dream of living on the Beach - easy access to art museums, live theater, the symphony, etc. But, I told myself "at least I have the library and the movies."

The Beach Theater signage is already difficult to see, without slowing down our already congested traffic even more. I then went through culture withdrawal when the Beach Theater closed last year because there is no way I want to fight the awful traffic we get on and off the island during high season. It is not the same to wait for and watch movies at home, but even Red Box removed their machines from the island taking away that option.

I would like the city council to please leave our wonderful little Beach Theater alone so that they can survive to help keep our economy alive on Fort Myers Beach, not to mention the pleasure of movie buffs like myself.
