Each year, the Fort Myers Beach Fireworks Committee gathers together to hold great eye-catching fund-raisers at fantastic establishments all over the island, all to go toward the Semmer Family, hand-picked and hand-generated fireworks display at the beach pier near Lynn Hall Park.
The next fund-raiser set for the Fireworks Fund will be the 14th annual Surf Club Fireworks Benefit Cook-Out, taking place Saturday, June 4, at the 1167 location, from 1 to 6 p.m.
“Cookie will be cooking up great food all day long,” said Surf Club owner Bruce Cermak. “We’ll have burgers, brauts, probably chicken. It will all be delicious.”
All of the food at the cook-out has been donated by Bruce and some vendors, and Cookie the Cook, as always, donates his time at the grill.
“We’ll also have live music by Mary Winner and Habitat for Harmony,” Bruce said.
Be ready for some great raffles, prizes and 50/50s, too, as the Fireworks Committee has a whole stash of great items to raffle off, all donated by very helpful, local establishments.
“Absolutely all of the money raised goes to the fireworks committee,” Bruce said. “The Fourth of July is one of the busiest days on the Beach – and it should be even busier this year, with July Fourth falling on a Friday. Everyone is always eager to donate their time to helping such a great display. We truly have a world-class show every year. (Bill) Semmer really blows up his money. It’s phenomenal.”
