Of the nine awarded winners within the first year of the Caloosahatchee Boat of the Year awards this season, six were CMCS (Caloosahatchee Marching and Chowder Society) members. Expanding from all sailing clubs between Charlotte Harbor and Naples, with about 45 boats competing for the title, CMCS members literally sailed away with the awards. Here are the complete list of winners.

Other fun sailing events
CMCS has many public events coming up in the future. Of them, the largest of the year, the 44th annual Summerset Regatta will sail around Fort Myers Beach Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 3 and 4, which encompasses three Boat of the Year events. This is the first time all events are taking place on the Beach, at the Pink Shell Beach Resort.
The club is seeking sponsorship opportunities and donated door prizes for the annual event. Call vice-commodore and chairman of the 44th Summerset Regatta Steve Romaine at 482-6280 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
A Ladies' Day Race will be held Saturday, Aug. 22.
Community Day will be held at the West Marine on Colonial Boulevard (1520 Colonial Blvd., 275-6077) Thursday, Sept. 24. During that day, the store will donate 5 percent of its sales to the Edison Youth Center Sailing Program, sponsored by CMCS.
Steve asks anyone looking to make large purchases at the store, please try to hold off until Thursday, Sept. 24, if possible.
