Injured blue heron rescued on San Carlos Island

January 28, 2009
By MELISSA SCHNEIDER, mschneider@breezenewspapers.com

Early Tuesday afternoon, it came to the attention of Beach Bulletin staff that an injured blue heron was pacing in the fenced-in backyard of a nearby home. Shortly after contacting CROW, volunteer Sandy Ent made it to the scene with the proper equipment and Breeze staff Rob Braitling, Karyn Tighe and Charlie Loucks slowly surrounded the injured bird, smoothly capturing it with a towel over its body and another over its beak (good job, Rob). The bird was carted off by Ent to the nearby CROW facility to recieve the medical attention it desperately needs. Good luck, little guy!
