Two comments on article. One, growth and septic tanks are significant contributors to the pollution of Lake O, not just Ag or Sugar production. Two, the cost of plan 6. Has anybody calculated the cost of plan 6? The EAA has approximately 53,000 acres. Currently there is an option to purchase at $7,400 PER ACRE. Do the math, it is $392,000,000 billion dollars! At current market value, approximately $12,000 to $14,000 PER ACRE, the cost ranges from $636,000,000 to $742,000,000 billion. That is just the cost of land, now add attorneys and court cost, and those numbers will double or triple. To top all that off, it is against federal law to pump polluted water south into the Everglades National Park, it has to be scrubbed and treated first. Plan 6 is not financially feasible. CEPP is our best alternative. Also, EAA produces 70% of the country's winter vegetables and provides economic activity for those rural communities.
