The entire issue for keeping the Chiquita Lock going is very hard to understand. What real benifit does anyone know the lock has been. I mean REALLY, do you think that the lock really serves any benifit!! I believe the lock should be removed and let boaters operate just like how it's done on the rest of the channels connecting to the river do. When the lock is busy and many boats are just setting there idling their motors waiting to get through, I'm sure there is more pollution going on then, then if they just went right on through. The expense to maintain and operate is not anywhere worth what the real benifit it is suppose to be doing. Honestly, most people feel the lock is a total joke. Save us some real tax dollars and take a good hard look at this issue and use some common sense. Please!
