Beaches & Water Activities
Estero Island's expansive white beaches span its entire length and almost call out to you to stop and play. In addition to it's popular beach, Lynn Hall Memorial Park also offers facilities such as picnic tables, barbeque grills, playground equipment and a bathhouse with restrooms. Located near the Sky Bridge, the park also has a fishing pier. Bowditch Point Park, at the north end of the island, is a county park that offers restrooms, shower and picnic facilities, natures trails with an extensive boardwalk that opens directly onto the beach, and a concession stand that sells, amongst many other items, food, smoothies and suntan products.

Beach accesses up and down Estero Boulevard are clearly marked with signs. These public beaches offerno facilities and parking is limited, but are quieter places for those who want to relax or for those wishing to look for shells in a less picked-over area.

Matanzas Pass Wilderness Preserve
Located right behind the Beach Elementary School on Bay Road, the preserve is more than 40 acres of unspoiled live oak hammock and 4,000 feet of mangrove shoreline. This preserve can be explored by elevated boardwalk that meanders down to the back bay. You can also explore the island's history and artifacts in the historic cottages. The preserve is open daily, dawn to dusk.

Mound Key
Accessible only by boat, this island is located just off the southern tip of Estero Island and was constructed with shells left by the Calusa Indians more than 1,000 years ago. It was also the site of the first pioneer settlement in Southwest Florida, complete with schoolhouse.

Ostego Bay Marine Science Center
A must-see for families with growing children, Ostego Bay provides a live touch tank, educational exhibits about Florida animal ad plant life, aquariums and a gift shop. It is located at Fisherman's Wharf, under the bridge on San Carlos Island.

By Air and Sea
Land-based activities sometimes take a backseat to the Beach's other offerings: parasailing and personal watercraft rental booths dot the waterfront from one end of the island to the other, providing fun-filled opportunities to experience the Beach from a different perspective.
